September 18, 2007

It seems this year I have lost all but a few of those I love either by the grips of death, foolish profligacies and excesses, or by the negligence of duty.

Along with the burdens I still carry, it is... utter anguish.

*laughs* Would that I were a Jedi, that this anguish would torture me into a powerful Sith. If only such evil pains actually brought power.

EDIT: Oh look, more bad news. Wonderful. It's as if the heavens were conspiring to bring me down. Happy fucking 21st birthday Johann!

heavingsigh

*sigh*

Round
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

halothreeads

The new marketing campaign for Halo 3 with Neill Blomkamp, Stan Winston, and Rupert Sander's efforts is bloody amazing. I have to say they've made some of the best video-game ads I've ever seen in my life. Neill Blomkamp's are no surprise, since he's working on the Halo movie, but jesus.

Videos below.

Stan Winston/Rupert Sander's "Museum"

Friend made ribs today, they were delicious. I had meant to go out to eat but it's so much better when you chill out with friends and eat ribs.

Current CUPE strike pisses me off, for many reasons. On the surface alone, it hurts students and will push back administrative work that already runs rather slow at school. Otherwise I don't believe it's been well organized, and in the long run will hurt their cause more than anything, hike up tuition, and in a few years we'll all be feeling repercussions.

As someone who identifies themself primarily as a socialist, I should, stereotypically, support the strike. But I don't. It's not the issue, I disagree with methods that are detrimental to the overall cause and I think every situation should always be analyzed from a logical perspective. Having a strike at the very beginning of a school year when a large number of students are just coming into the school and are not well-informed enough to support them. Rather, it draws their ire and the students are the mob power of the University system.

*sighs*

I'm going to end that line of thought since I've exhausted my viewpoint in conversation today already. I think in the last few years I have become far less of an idealist than those I know. Especially the free-market capitalists. Talk about idealism. Perhaps I shall post some of the thoughts I've jotted down for the Manifesto later.
