wiibot

If you remember that homemade sentry gun that tracks and shoots human targets... apparently the company that spawned out of that makes good fun use of their office time... by building a robot controlled by a Wiimote.

All I gotta say is... it has a sword. It's a big robotic arm with a sword. I mean, yeah, technically, homemade sentry guns that can track my by optics and shoot me in the heart are scarier. But if this is what their side projects are like...

Well damn, why didn't I go into robotics?

Good god. You know when people talk about finishing their basement? Most of the people I know would probably turn it into a studio or something, or living space, or like a TV/game room.

This guy has just made it a shrine for all things Apple. And I have to say, it looks GOOD. Goddamn. Best basement ever? Yeah... probably.

I like the bar a lot, but I have to say, I especially like that iMac wall with all the screensavers going at once. Pretty.

First sighted at Engadget.

23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

No offense to Elisha Cuthbert, who I'm sure is a wonderful lady. Just a thought, you know, we could shave her head and everyone who laughs will be torn to shreds by bears. Nuclear weapons are nothing next to acts of God.

youknowwhat

People are so easy to manipulate. Makes life both easier and more difficult for me.

Sometimes, it's just bloody scary.

saddestdisneyshort

This may just be the best and saddest thing Disney's done in a bloody long time.

Sadder than when Bambi's mum died... well, at least, to me now that I'm much older and couldn't really give a rat's ass about Bambi's mum, sadder than that.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

omgiphone

Oh. My. God.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, the iPhone. I'm speechless.

iphone.jpg

Check this out on engadget (those guys are tech blogging kings). Jobs finally unveiled the oft-rumoured iPhone.

It. Looks. Gorgeous. Eat your heart out, Moto Razr. It also looks like the usual Apple fare of "The first thing I should do is get myself a case for this thing before it scratches like a bitch".

But christ almighty, do I ever have a nerd hard-on. It runs on OSX! A phone that runs on OSX, whoa!

I could see this device having battery life problems, though, I hope Apple doesn't disappoint.

I stumbled on some more cool ads recently.

This one made me laugh.

Best ad of all time? I think so.

lotterylist

I've revised my... "If I win the lottery, what would I buy?" list.

Lotus, Loft apartment, Leica digital, Lenses, Lottery Ticket.

I have been ranting about how no digital SLR still has a split prism viewfinder (cause I like manual focus) and then I find out today Leica still does it cause they're old school. Too bad their cameras are so fucking fantastic they would set me back ridiculous amounts of money.

So I started everything on my Lottery List with Ls.

Yeeeah.

Look for my Top Ten Albums of 2006 in the Charlatan within the next week.

What I really want to talk about is...

SATA 1 TB drives to sell at $399 within the year.

I am speechless. 7200 rpm (same as my current) at 1 TB.

So... much... music. I mean, I have 100+ (around 120 if you count stuff not on my playlist) GBs of music and that's about seven weeks straight.

1024 GBs? I would kill for that kind of space... and now it appears as if I won't have to! Okay, it's $400... but that's a steal. I mean, think of all the music I can cram in there.

Back in town after a nice break. I hit up that NY thing and kicked its ass.

It was fantastic to see everyone again, and those I didn't know very well back when I lived there, it was nice to get to know people better.

I wish I could say I had photos, but I don't. Not to worry though, I'm getting a new camera soon... within the next two months, probably.

It shall kick tons of ass.

It's nice to be back and to find snow on the ground... made me rather happy, really, when I woke up in the car and looked outside.

Happy New Year to everyone.

Love,
Johann
